About moon days

It is traditional to take a rest on both new moon and full moon days. This is related to the influence of the moon cycle and is beautifully explained on senior Ashtanga Yoga teacher Tim Miller’s website: http://ashtangayogacenter.com/moon-days. We decided to keep the classes running on these days but encourage students to use them for either a gentle practice or meditation/pranayama.

Also, it is recommended that women refrain from a full-on physical practice on at least the first two days of their period. Like the moon days, this also has to do with energy, which is generally low on those days. So it is a good idea to listen to your body and give it the rest it needs.

Talk to us if you are interested in learning a restorative routine for moon days.
